Johanna Walser has an extensive professional background at the Swiss-based Ringier Group, where she is working since 2017. Initially, she served as Head of Corporate Communications for Ringier Axel Springer Media AG, a joint venture spanning the CEE countries. She then moved to the holding company of Swiss Ringier AG and took over communications for the digital marketplace business in 19 countries under the leadership of Robin Lingg. Her responsibilities expanded in 2018 to include the role of Deputy Chief Communications Officer of Ringier AG. Since November 2019, she has been Chief Communications Officer as well as a member of the extended Executive Board of Ringier AG.
Previously, she worked as Senior Marketing Communications Manager at Distrelec, a company of the listed Daetwyler Group, in Nänikon, Switzerland.
During her career as a communications professional, she gained valuable international experience in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. There, she served as Editor-in-Chief of KL-Post, the magazine of the German-speaking Society of Kuala Lumpur (GSSKL). She also worked as a project manager for a local PR agency, part of the Burson-Marsteller Group.
Prior to her 3-year stint abroad in Southeast Asia, Johanna Walser spent 17 years with international home improvement and DIY giant OBI, where she held the position of Head of Corp. Communications. In this role, she was also responsible for sports sponsorship, events and sustainability. She also worked as a personal assistant to OBI co-founder Manfred Maus.
Johanna Walser holds a Master of Arts degree. She studied German language and literature, art history, economics and geography at the Rheinisch-Westfälische Technische Hochschule in Aachen, Germany.
