Johanna Walser is Chief Communications Officer of Ringier, where she is responsible for internal and external corporate communications for the internationally active media, sports media, and digital marketplaces group headquartered in Switzerland. She joined the company in 2017, initially as Head of Corporate Communications at Ringier Axel Springer Media AG, where she oversaw communications across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Shortly thereafter, she also took on communications leadership for Ringier’s digital marketplaces business in 19 countries, reporting to Robin Lingg. In 2018, she was appointed Deputy Chief Communications Officer of Ringier AG. Since November 2019, she has served as Chief Communications Officer and is a member of the company’s Extended Executive Board.
Before joining Ringier, Johanna Walser held several senior communications roles, including Senior Marketing Communications Manager at Distrelec, a company within the publicly listed Daetwyler Group. She also gained international experience in Malaysia, where she worked as Editor-in-Chief of the KL-Post and as a project manager for a local PR agency affiliated with Burson-Marsteller.
Earlier in her career, she spent nearly 20 years with the home improvement giant OBI, where she served as Head of International Corporate Communications. She also oversaw the group’s sports sponsorship, sustainability initiatives, and major events, and worked as personal advisor to OBI co-founder Manfred Maus.
Johanna Walser holds a Master of Arts from RWTH Aachen University in German language and literature and in art history. She also studied economics and geography.
