In close collaboration with Ringier Hungary, the Ringier Sports Media Group today launched Sportal.hu, a new digital sports platform that provides sports fans in Hungary with video-based 24/7 news, commentary, analysis, interviews, statistics and live scores. Backed up with the strategic expertise and technical know-how of the Ringier Sports Media Group - the market leader for digital sports content in CEE - sportal.hu will soon become a dominant media player in the Hungarian sports market.

Stilian Shiskov, CEO of Sportal Media Group and Senior Partner of the Ringier Sports Media Group: “I am very happy that today the Ringier Sports Media Group further expands the presence of its Sportal media brand in CEE with the launch of sportal.hu. We look forward to providing Hungarian sports fans with up-to-date sports content and relevant facts & figures. Hungary is a country with an excellent sports culture and fan base. For this reason, the sports media platform sportal.hu represents an attractive advertising space for various customer groups and businesses.”

Robin Lingg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Ringier Sports Media Group: “From a global perspective, sports media is increasingly THE place where sports audiences, sports gamers, and advertisers meet. Ringier is investing into this highly attractive segment and wants to become a top player globally by uniting leading digital sports media brands under the umbrella of the Ringier Sports Media Group. As of today, this is the Sports Media Group in Bulgaria with sportal.bg and sportal 365, Gazeta Sporturilor in Romania, Sportal.rs in Serbia, sport.sk in Slovakia and Pulse in Africa. Our recent participation in LiveScore Group was another decisive step to develop innovative products based on common technologies in the future and to benefit from the exchange of know-how. The Ringier Sports Media Group`s portfolio will be further growing through mergers and acquisitions as well as newly started products within the upcoming months. I am very much looking forward to seeing sportal.hu grow.”

“Together in the grandstand!” – is the slogan of the Sportal.hu editorial team. Under the editorial lead of István Kecskés, 22 journalists will build Sportal.hu. Their goal is to provide fans with live sports results and the most important international as well as national sports news. One focus of sportal.hu will be on moving images. Sportal.hu will produce and publish its own video content and involve user-generated content. The planning of an own video studio, which is suitable for live broadcasts, is to be completed by the end of the year.

István Kecskés, Editor-in-Chief of Sportal.hu: “For us, the needs and interests of domestic sports fans come first. We write for them; we look through their eyes and cheer with them in the stands. For this task, we have assembled a great, professional team of journalists who work 7 days a week to provide authentic, fast-paced news and entertaining video coverage to a sports-loving audience. I am honored to take over the professional management of sportal.hu’s editorial team.”

Tibor Kovács, CEO of Ringier Hungary: “The launch of sportal.hu marks the entry of a new sports medium to the domestic media offering. We are pleased that the Ringier Sports Media Groups brings the leading Sportal Media brands to Hungary. In the coming months, a dedicated Sportal.hu editorial team will work hard to build sportal.hu into Hungary’s market-leading digital sports platform. Sportal.hu will  become an active player in the domestic sports industry, serving readers and fans and industry’s decision makers. Sportal.hu will now step into the successful platform row of Sportal.bg, gsp.ro and Sportal.rs.”
