Ringier Signs Publishing Pro as New CFO

The internationally operating Swiss media company Ringier AG is obtaining renowned support in top management. Dr. Tobias Schulz-Isenbeck (43) will take the position of new Chief Financial Officer in Group management under CEO Christian Unger as of 1 September 2011. He is succeeding Samuel Hügli, who resigned as CFO at his own request.

Tobias Schulz-Isenbeck has been the managing director of Verlagsgruppe Handelsblatt since 2006 and management spokesperson since 2008, responsible for popular media and as CFO. In this position, Mr. Schulz-Isenbeck was decisively involved in the successful turnaround of the Handelsblatt Group following the financial crisis. Previous to that, he worked at various further management positions at Verlagsgruppe GvH for 10 years. In addition, he has been an honorary member in the Executive Committee of Deutsche Welthungerhilfe e. V. (trans.: German section of the Freedom from Hunger Campaign) and Executive Committee member of the Deutsche Welthungerhilfe Foundation.

Mr. Schulz-Isenbeck has a Ph.D. in economics. He will start work at Ringier on 1 September 2011 and have his office at the Group headquarters in Zurich. Christian Unger, CEO Ringier AG, stated: “With the hiring of Tobias Schulz-Isenbeck, we have succeeded in obtaining a proven expert in the publishing industry with international experience for Ringier. Schulz-Isenbeck is consequently ideal for the job of CFO and will provide us with decisive support in the further implementation of our Group strategy.”

As already announced on 10 March 2001, the previous CFO Samuel Hügli is withdrawing from the Ringier Executive Board at his own request after four years as Chief Financial Officer as of the end of August 2011 to dedicate himself to new entrepreneurial challenges. Mr. Hügli will continue to support Ringier as a consultant as well as maintain various Supervisory Board seats in Ringier companies.
