Ringier COO Ralph Büchi to be nominated as the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Axel Springer SE

Axel Springer SE announced today that Ralph Büchi, COO of Ringier AG and CEO of Ringier Axel Springer Schweiz AG, will be nominated to become a member of Axel Springer SE’s Supervisory Board at the Axel Springer shareholders’ meeting, scheduled for April 17, 2019. The plan is for him to succeed the current Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Dr. Giuseppe Vita.

Marc Walder, CEO and Managing Partner of Ringier AG, said of Ralph Büchi’s nomination: «We are delighted that Ralph Büchi will be put forward for the position of Chairman of Axel Springer’s Supervisory Board. This is both a great honour and a recognition of his work in recent years. Ralph Büchi is one of the most experienced and respected media managers in Europe.»

Ralph Büchi will fulfil his current contract with Ringier, which runs until April 2020; he will remain COO of Ringier AG and CEO of Ringier Axel Springer Schweiz until then. If he is voted onto the Supervisory Board, he will step down from his role as Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Ringier Axel Springer Media AG in eastern Europe. The nomination is independent of the existing cooperation between the two media companies in Eastern Europe and Switzerland, and will have no further structural effects.
