Since last week a new website is keeping Myanmar up to date: With the news portal Duwun.com.mm the Swiss media company Ringier is bringing its digital expertise to Myanmar. The platform is part of Ringier Asia which is running various print magazines and digital platforms in China and Vietnam.
Duwun is providing the latest news from all over Myanmar in the native language Burmese, targeting the fast growing number of smartphone and internet users in the country. The platform is adapted to local needs and therefore perfectly aligned for mobile users also including an Android app. Duwun is one of the first platforms of its kinds in Myanmar with its focus on the 16 – 35 year old urban population. It also puts heavy emphasis an alternative revenue concept such as native advertisement and sponsored pages, which is new to the local digital news market. A team of 18 employees are selecting, researching and editing the page 24/7 to offer the audience a wide and entertaining news variety. The website is built on proven mobile-optimized Swiss technology and constantly gaining from expertise collected with the Ringier Group.
