Marc Walder new Head of Ringier Switzerland

Marc Walder has been named new Head of Ringier's publishing business in Switzerland. He will start his new role on 1 September, leading a reorganized management team.

The Group management of Ringier AG has appointed Marc Walder (42) as Managing Director as of 1 September. In his new function he will also directly oversee the editors-in-chief. Daniel Pillard, previous ad-interim head, will continue to serve on the 8-member Executive Board of Ringier Switzerland as head of the Western Switzerland business. The Executive Board will consist of Thomas Passen (Blick Group), Urs Heller (Magazines), Christoph Bauer (New Media), Andreas Schaffner (Services), Daniel Terzoni (Controlling) and Jean-Luc Mauron (Human Resources). Stefan Hackh will be responsible for communications at Ringier Switzerland.

From now on the Services division headed by Andreas Schaffner will include the customer contact center and the Specter image archive in addition to the Print Adligenswil and Logistics units, for which he is already in charge. In addition to the Cash Group under the leadership of division head Christoph Bauer, the New Media division will also include Ringier’s radio and TV business headed by Marc Görtz as well as the Health Unit headed by Fibo Deutsch.

Marc Walder has worked for Ringier in a number of different roles since 1991, most recently as editing director of newspapers and editor-in-chief of SonntagsBlick. Before that he served as editor-in-chief of Schweizer Illustrierte for 7 years and sports chief of Blick for 2 years. After graduating from high school, Marc Walder completed a commercial training programme and then graduated from the Ringier School of Journalism. In spring 2008 he completed a management programme at the Harvard Business School.
