Katia Murmann is leaving the Blick Group

Katia Murmann, Chief Product Officer at Blick and Ringier Global Media and a member of Blick’s executive board, has decided to leave the Blick Group and focus on expanding her mandates. She will remain connected to Ringier through various projects.

Katia Murmann has held various management roles at Ringier AG for more than nine years and has driven forward the Blick Group’s transformation over this period. As Blick.ch’s editor-in-chief, she was a driving force for the digitization of the newsroom from 2017 to 2021, and since 2019, Murmann has also been a member of the Blick Group’s executive board, transformed IT and expanded the product and marketing area in her role as Chief Product Officer. Furthermore, she was responsible for establishing the international team from 2021 onwards, as Chief Product Officer within the Global Media Unit.

In collaboration with Ringier CFO Annabella Bassler, she founded the EqualVoice initiative in 2019. This project aims to achieve greater visibility and diversity for women in reporting. Similarly, since 2019, she has been Chair of the Board of Directors of the Swiss Media Database SMD and swissdox.

«I am so grateful to the executive board at Ringier, the Blick Group and all the teams for the trust they have placed in me and the exciting times we have had. We have had such an impact and achieved so much together,» says Murmann.

Ladina Heimgartner, CEO of the Blick Group and Head of the Global Media Unit at Ringier AG: «Katia led two of the most ambitious, important projects of recent years with the establishment of an independent product area for the Blick Group and, on an international level, for the Global Media Unit. Thanks to her expertise, she played a key role in the digital transformation and in professionalizing our processes, while her considered, goal-oriented commitment enabled her to build innumerable bridges within the Group and unite key areas. I will miss our smooth collaboration, and wish her every success and all the very best».

Katia Murmann is leaving the Blick Group on 1 August of her own volition. She will remain connected to Ringier until the end of the year through various projects, such as EqualVoice and the international product initiative userX. She will also continue to hold a mandate on the board of SMD/swissdox, while shifting her primary focus to new mandates. She was appointed to the Board of Directors of Scope Content AG in mid-June and serves on the Advisory Board of several start-ups, including elleXX.

«In recent months, these engagements have taken up ever more time, meaning that I will no longer be able to combine them with my operational work for the Blick Group or my international activities for the Ringier Global Media Unit in the long term. It was a very difficult decision to take, but I am looking forward to the next step on my journey.»

Marco Rüegger, who already holds a senior position in product management, will succeed Katia Murmann as product manager of the Blick Group on an ad interim basis.
