Google Global Lead Petra Ehmann joins the Advisory Board of Ringier’s EqualVoice initiative

The Advisory Board of Ringier’s EqualVoice initiative is welcoming another prestigious member: Petra Ehmann, Global Lead for Product Partnerships, Augmented Reality at Google Switzerland, will join on 1 June 2021. As a member of the board of the We Shape Tech network, Petra, who studied engineering, campaigns for more women in the tech industry.

The aim of Ringier’s EqualVoice initiative is for women to receive as much media coverage as men and to be called upon as experts as often as men are. The initiative is headed by the publisher Michael Ringier and CEO Marc Walder. It was launched in 2019 by Ringier Group CFO Annabella Bassler, who continues to promote the initiative with a great deal of personal dedication.

The prestigious Advisory Board of the EqualVoice initiative can now boast another high-calibre addition: Petra Ehmann, 35, Global Lead for Product Partnerships, Augmented Reality at Google in Switzerland, will become a member of the EqualVoice Advisory Board on 1 June 2021.

Ehmann grew up in Bolivia and studied at ETH Zurich and Stanford. After studying mechanical engineering at ETH Zurich, she worked for various companies, including the technology company Bosch in Mexico and the tool manufacturer Hilti in China. After completing a master’s degree at the elite Stanford University, she worked for the consulting firm A.T. Kearney before serving as Head of Business Intelligence at the start-up Kekanto in São Paulo. Petra Ehmann has worked for Google since 2013. In 2018 and 2019, she was named one of the «Top 100 Digital Shapers» by Handelszeitung and Bilanz. Ehmann is also a member of the board of the We Shape Tech network, which works to attract more women to the tech industry, and she also sits on the board of Technorama and the administrative board of Bossard.

Petra Ehmann: «We are currently faced with major challenges: to overcome them, we need the best women and men at the top. I feel it is my responsibility to promote talent in the tech industry. I would like to see more women in technical fields because the talent is there, but the self-image is lacking. An initiative like EqualVoice makes an important contribution to this cause. We need to change the entrenched gender stereotypes. I was extremely pleased to receive the invitation from Marc Walder and Annabella Bassler to join the Initiative’s Advisory Board. Tackling major challenges requires not only holistic thinking, but also a network of partnerships – and that is exactly what the EqualVoice Initiative and the organisation behind it reflect.»

«Petra Ehmann is a young, incredibly talented citizen of the world and we are delighted to have her on the Board of EqualVoice. Her conviction that men and women have equal potential and want to be supported equally is something that she experiences every day in the tech industry, and something that we experience every day in the media. Petra Ehmann will now be bringing the idea behind EqualVoice into another industry – and one that is immensely important for our future,» says Annabella Bassler, CFO of Ringier AG.

The EqualVoice Advisory Board consists of: Simona Scarpaleggia (global CEO at EDGE, board member at Autogrill and board member at Hornbach), David Allemann (CEO and co-founder of On), Nicole Burth (member of the executive board and head of communication services at Swiss Post), Ingrid Deltenre (media manager and board member), Christiane zu Salm (media entrepreneur and advisor), Franziska Tschudi Sauber (CEO Weidmann Holding AG), Tanja Grandits (Michelin-star chef and awarded “Chef of the Year 2020”), Carolina Müller-Möhl (president of the Müller-Möhl Foundation), Dr. Sabine Keller-Busse (president personal and corporate banking and president UBS Switzerland), Pascale Baeriswyl (diplomat and head of the Permanent Mission of Switzerland to the United Nations in New York), Yann Borgstedt (entrepreneur and founder of the Womanity Foundation) and Regula Bührer Fecker, founding partner of the advertising agency Rod.
