The numbers are staggering. June and July were the best months in terms of traffic in the history of GSP, with over 150 million pageviews combined.
In June 2024, GSP.ro boasted 5.7 million users, marking a 29% increase from the all-time record of visitors, generating 79 million pageviews, another record for the last years. By far, GSP remains the destination on which users spend the most time in Romania, a testament to our relevance and commitment to quality and high standard content. The trend continued in July, with more than 4.8 million users visiting GSP and over 77 million pageviews.
The GSP.ro’s editorial team delivered several outstanding editorial projects tailored to the UEFA Euro Championship, providing unparalleled coverage and insights throughout the tournament. Four GSP.ro colleagues and a photographer who were part of the 30-strong Ringier Sports Media Group expert team on the ground in Germany, supported the team in Bucharest, reporting firsthand from the stadiums, training grounds, and venues of the European Championship. The same happened at the Olympics, with 3 reporters and one photographer.
All the UEFA Euro video content produced by Sebastian Culea and Alexandru Mone’s team was presented in various programs such as “GSP.ro Live”, “Morning Edition”, “GSP Live Special”, which was dedicated exclusively to the Romanian national team, and “Euro GSP”.
A high number of major brand competitions were developed from concept to promotion by the GSP.ro sales team, led by Roxana Curelea, demonstrating the company’s unparalleled creative and operational expertise.
Mitrut Docan, Deputy-Editor-in-Chief of GSP.ro: „I think we improved our newsroom procedures and delivered on the complicated tasks of coordination and realization. We welcomed the challenges head-on and, through hard and smart team work, we achieved these remarkable numbers, setting new targets for us. It was a team effort, both in terms of journalism, but also in terms of digital management.”
Liviu Comăneanu, Managing Director of GSP.ro: “My team did an incredible job in the most important competitions of the year. They exceeded all expectations. I would also like to highlight that GSP created and successfully implemented its first own-brand campaign in over ten years. This was made possible by Roxana Bodea, Head of Marketing at GSP.ro, our passion for football and the improved editorial processes. This campaign capitalized on Romania’s first qualification for the tournament since 2016. We built on this success with an end-to-end marketing strategy that uniquely combined the mass market with targeted approaches. This was particularly effective during the group stage, in which the Romanian national team played three matches.”
Robin Lingg, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ringier Sports Media Group (RSMG): “GSP.ro’s success during UEFA Euro 2024 and the ongoing Olympic Games is proof of our constant drive for innovation, quality and excellence in media and communications. I thank the whole GSP.ro team and the colleagues from Libertatea and Ringier Romania, Predrag Mihailovic for setting the stage at GSP until June 2024, our advertising clients, partners and the millions of fans who made this journey unforgettable. GSP.ro will continue to break new ground in sports media and deliver exceptional experiences to their audience in Romania and beyond.”
