Starting January 9, 2027, “Blick fürs Wochenende” will be published on Saturdays. It combines the strengths of the previous SonntagsBlick and the Saturday reporting of the Blick family into a more comprehensive weekend offering. Readers will receive 96 pages in the familiar magazine-style tabloid format, delivered on Saturday morning.
Since 1969, SonntagsBlick has been a companion to Switzerland. It has documented major moments, sparked debates, profiled personalities, and shaped public discourse with its front pages for decades. This journalistic ethos forms the foundation of “Blick fürs Wochenende” and is now being further developed to meet changing media consumption habits.
Understand the week, experience the weekend
“Blick fürs Wochenende” carries the Blick DNA and makes a clear promise: understand the week, experience the weekend.
- The first section contextualizes current events with investigative pieces, major stories, reports, interviews, opinions, and analyses. New contributors include columnists Stefan Zweifel, Christian Jott Jenny, and Alexandra Lüönd in the beauty & lifestyle section.
- The second section is dedicated to sports. Around 30 pages make it the most comprehensive print sports offering in Switzerland, featuring analyses, background stories, reports, and columns from contributors such as top footballer Ramona Bachmann, former FIFA referee Urs Meier, and player agent Sascha Fischer. And for those looking for Saturday’s results, they can be found in the digital sports center, continuously updated. Additionally, there will be entertainment, service sections on indulgence, finance, and leisure, as well as new columns.
- At the same time, Blick is expanding its digital sports offering, providing print readers with an even more direct link to all information on Blick.ch. An enhanced sports center delivers results, live scores, and video content to mobile phones in real time.
Ladina Heimgartner, CEO of Ringier Media Switzerland: “We believe the weekend is one of the most valuable media moments of all. During the week, speed dominates. On the weekend, people want to understand what shaped the week and, at the same time, find inspiration for their days off. We are creating a stronger offering precisely for this moment: more journalism, more sports, more service, and more time for discovery.”
Reza Rafi, Editor-in-Chief of SonntagsBlick and the future “Blick fürs Wochenende”: “In ‘Blick fürs Wochenende,’ we are carrying over the best of SonntagsBlick: major investigations, exclusive stories, and clear opinions—with more sports, more service, and more columns. Our readers can put the week into perspective before the weekend even truly begins.”
Fresh design, whiter paper
Julie Body, AI Creative Director of Ringier Media Switzerland, is responsible for the visual concept of “Blick fürs Wochenende.” She has developed a look that continues the identity of the Blick family while creating a new dynamic. “Blick fürs Wochenende” will continue to be printed in the proven tabloid format, but now on higher-quality, whiter paper.
Julie Body: “‘Blick fürs Wochenende’ should feel like the weekend itself: generous, surprising, and full of energy. We are working with strong visuals and a modular layout. There will be much to discover: you can dive specifically into news and sports or simply drift through the issue. It’s unmistakably Blick – but with a fresh face.”
