Robin Lingg joined Ringier in 2011 after holding a successful international leadership position at Boehringer Ingelheim in Mexico. At the time, he heeded the wishes of the Ringier and Lingg families, as well as CEO Marc Walder, to put his expertise at the service of the media company. Following an initial phase on the Board of Directors of Ringier AG (2011–2013), Lingg assumed various operational responsibilities at the group level of Ringier AG with the aim of driving the transformation into a technology company.
Thirteen years later, the Ringier Group now generates over 80% of its operating profit in the digital sector across 19 countries. During this era, Robin Lingg played a key role in this successful transformation.
Starting in 2014, Robin Lingg served as CEO of Ringier Africa & Asia, overseeing operations on both continents. In Asia, he initiated far-reaching restructuring efforts – including the sale of Ringier China – while substantially expanding the digital portfolio (media and marketplaces) in Africa.
Starting in 2017, the international digital marketplace portfolio grew substantially under Lingg and became the Group’s most economically important pillar. In Switzerland, JobCloud and Scout24 established themselves as clear market leaders under Lingg. Furthermore, he served as the strategic architect for the creation of today’s SMG Swiss Marketplace Group.
Most recently, starting in 2022, Lingg developed the RSMG as the Group’s third strategic pillar. Today, the eight leading sports media brands reach over 23 million users across seven countries.
Michael Ringier, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Ringier AG: “Over the past 13 years, Robin has made a decisive contribution to the future viability of our family business. At the time, he heeded the family’s request and put his own career abroad on hold for the sake of Ringier. The fact that the Ringier Group is so successful digitally today is closely linked to his successful work. I look forward to continuing to shape the future of our company together with his brother Roman Bargezi, who actively represents the Lingg-Bargezi family branch as a member of the Board of Directors. Robin will remain an integral part of our shared journey as a committed co-owner.»
Marc Walder, CEO of Ringier AG: «Robin joined the Ringier Group in 2011, initially as a member of the Board of Directors. He laid the foundation for our African business, he was the architect of our highly successful digital marketplace portfolio – and he built the Ringier Sports Media Group from the ground up. Robin Lingg has had a profound impact on our company over the past decade and a half. Through his hard and honest work, his entrepreneurial courage, his unbridled creative drive, and his strong digital affinity. For all of this, I thank Robin from the bottom of my heart. Robin played a major role in ensuring that the Ringier Group’s digital transformation was so successful.”
Robin Lingg: “It fills me with joy to see how, together, we have transformed the group from a traditional publishing house into a leading international technology company. Now that I have established RSMG as our third strategic pillar, the time is right for me to turn the page and dedicate myself to new projects once again. I am handing over RSMG to Marc Walder and future CEO Tim Kollmann at a time of strong growth.”
