Ralph Büchi, who was born in 1957, has been Chief Operating Officer (COO) of the Ringier Group since 2017. In that role, he has also held the function of deputy to Group CEO, Marc Walder. Since January 2016, Ralph Büchi has also been operating CEO of Ringier Axel Springer Switzerland AG, the Swiss joint venture between Ringier and Axel Springer.
After graduating from the University of Zurich with a master's degree in Business Administration, Ralph Büchi began his career in journalism as editor of the Handelszeitung, subsequently becoming that paper’s co-owner and CEO before selling the publishing company to Axel Springer in 1999. From 2008 until May 2017 he held the office of Chairman of Axel Springer International. His various activities during that time included helping to establish and serving on the Supervisory Board of the European edition of POLITICO. From 2012 to 2014, he was also a member of the Executive Board of Axel Springer SE. In April 2019, Ralph Büchi was elected the new Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Axel Springer SE. Currently he is also Chairman of FIPP (The Network for Global Media), based in London.
