Protect the environment - for us and for future generations
For the first time, Ringier has assessed the environmental impact of the entire Group. The data we obtained form an important basis to determine how we can reduce emissions. Environmentally conscious purchasing, production and transportation are a core effort to improve the environmental balance. Therefore, Ringier works together with partners that share our concern for the environment.
Ringier has identified the following fields of activities where further improvements can be achieved by taking specific action:
| - Wood: |
The share of recycling pulp used for newsprint at Ringier already represents 83 percent. The share of recycling pulp for other types of paper is expected to be increased. If virgin fiber has to be used, it should be obtained from sources of sustainable forestry, if possible. Ringier generally prefers to use paper with FSC or PEFC certification. FSC paper is the standard for all internal printed materials of Ringier.

Ringier works with paper suppliers that maintain a certified environmental management system.

| - Transport: |
Ringier supports the use of the ecologically most efficient methods of transportation, such as railways and ships. Transports by truck are held to a minimum..

| - Print and publishing: |
Environmental actions are reviewed, and implemented if found to be suitable, by all printing and publishing facilities on an ongoing basis.

| - Publishing logistics: |
The distribution of print products to the end customers should generate a minimum of environmental emissions. |
