The Ringi­er School of Jour­nalism is an ed­uca­tional in­stitu­tion with­out peer in Switzer­land. Many fa­mous Swiss me­dia rep­resen­tatives ac­quired their jour­nalis­tic skills at the school. Pub­lish­er Michael Ringi­er him­self at­tended the com­pa­ny‘s School of Jour­nalism in the mid-1970s. The school op­erates under the pa­tro­nage of the Hans Ringi­er Foun­dation. Pub­li­cist Hannes Britschgi was ap­poin­ted Head of the Ringi­er School of Jour­na­lism in 2011.

 The lec­turers are journalists and the best of their trade, bring­ing a treasure tro­ve of expe­ri­ence in their partic­ular field of exper­tise with them. 

Since its foundation in 1974, over 350 journalists have graduated from this school with a diploma. Many of them subsequently went on to be employed by Ringi­er im­me­diately af­ter having completed their train­ing.

Die zweijähr­ige Aus­bildung verknüpft Theorie und Praxis in idealer Weise. Die angehen­den Journa­listinnen und Journa­lis­ten besu­chen abwechslungs­weise Kurse an der Schule und vertiefen das gelern­te an­schliessend auf der Redakti­on. In den Li­teratur-Kol­loqui­en schärft die Klasse ihr Sen­sorium für die Spra­che.

The workshops on journalis­tic skills are comple­mented by «Tag der Hor­izonte» (Day of Horizons) and a lit­er­ary colloqui­um. «Tag der Hor­izonte» expands the students' networks through exciting exchanges with opin­ion leaders from the worlds of me­dia and politics. It also enables students to vis­it places they would not or­dinar­ily be granted access.
